United States

Kratom leaf and mitragynine are not federally scheduled. DEA has proposed temporary Schedule I for 7-OH and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl above 1 mg/g, or where the mitragynine-to-(7-OH + MP) ratio is below 100. FDA does not consider kratom lawful in food, supplements or drugs, and Import Alert 54-15 allows detention of imports. State laws vary.
