Indonesia kratom export rules in 2026
Indonesia allows kratom to be exported only in processed form, such as powder with particles no larger than 600 µm; raw leaf exports are banned. Shipments must be free of microbial contamination, heavy metals and adulteration. A temporary 2025 export quota has expired, and 2026 rules adjusted exporter registration requirements.
Processed forms only
Ministry of Trade Regulations 20 and 21 of 2024 restrict kratom exports to cut, crushed or powdered forms, with powder at 600 µm or finer. Whole raw leaf may not be exported.
Quality requirements
Exported material must be free of microbial contamination, heavy metals and adulteration. Buyers should expect a lot-level test report from the exporter and should re-test on arrival.
Quota and registration
- A 25%-of-production export quota applied from July 1 to December 31, 2025 and has expired
- Amendments removed exporter registration and approval for some HS lines
- March 2026 regulations added ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 as non-mandatory items in the registered-exporter application (detail unverified; confirm with Indonesian counsel)
What this means for extract buyers
Extraction outside Indonesia starts from exported powder, so the powder's own contaminant results carry into the extract. Ask for both the source-powder report and the finished-extract COA.
